This is an Apprenticeship Training program approved and supervised by the US Department of Labor Bureau of Apprenticeship. The training meets national standards for classroom training. Students are issued a Certificate of Completion by the US Department of Labor at the completion of the 4th level of training. A large number of students are able to take and pass the Journeyman License test after the third level of training thus earning journeyman’s status before completing the training.

Training provided by IEC is delivered at night only. This program has been in place for 25 plus years and has trained well over 1,000 students who can currently work in the field. The program is governed by electrical contractors and they use the program as the primary means for training their employees.

(Byron McCain, Executive Direct) Students have to apply in person at the IEC training center. Applications are taken on a daily basis and processed for enrollment in the next level 1 class. Applicants are required to provide a copy of their birth certificate, social security card, high school diploma or GED documentation. A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required. Applicants take a math test to determine level of math skill and provided access to math refresher classes free of charge if needed.
