The Alabama Christian Academy Fishing Team earned first place overall in the opening tournament of the the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association (ASABFA) competition season.

The top five winning teams include:

  • Alabama Christian Academy (Montgomery, AL)

The Lake Martin event, sponsored by Go Build Alabama, had more than 150 competitors. Additional tournaments are scheduled throughout the year at lakes across the state including Smith Lake and Guntersville Lake. Individual winners of the competition received scholarships and additional fishing tools.

“These student anglers are extremely dedicated to their sport and it was impressive to witness,” said Jason Phelps, executive director of Go Build Alabama. “We’re excited for the remaining season.”

The ASABFA aims to promote the sport of bass fishing among Alabama’s youth in a supportive, positive and educational environment in which every student angler may develop angling skills, a healthy sense of competition, ethics and an appreciation of Alabama’s natural resources in a team environment.
