Go Build Alabama has joined the growing list of organizations sponsoring the Construction Education Foundation of Alabama’s (CEFA) Skilled Trades Expo on Wednesday, August 5th.
This expo is designed with the purpose of engaging young adults (18 to 30), veterans and underemployed populations in the Birmingham area. Individuals who are working in a job that does not provide a pathway for “true” advancement are also encouraged to participate, as are those working in residential construction but interested in commercial construction. Industry representatives will be available for networking and to provide information about the rewarding career opportunities available in the Construction Trades.
“We want to reach out to the community and help them learn about construction careers, network with local businesses, and see firsthand the programs that CEFA offers” said Byron McCain, Executive Director of CEFA.
Hands on demonstrations will be available in the following fields:
Additionally, expo participants will have opportunities to apply for scholarships. All in attendance will be given a chance to register for giveaways, and learn more about CEFA and the apprenticeship or craft training opportunities available through CEFA’s programs.
“CEFA has been a leader in the education of Alabama’s skilled trades over the years, and Go Build Alabama is honored to be able to work with the program and our industry partners to bring this career exploration opportunity to hundreds of potential tradesmen throughout the Birmingham area,” stated Jason Phelps, Executive Director of the Alabama Construction Recruitment Institute (ACRI). “This expo will be unique opportunity to learn about construction careers and how to get started on the construction career path.”
